Blood Meridian by Cormac McCarthy is SUCH an amazing book, a true Great American Novel that everyone should read. I desperately want to see it on screen, it has been a dream of mine for years. I imagine a proper film adaptation would probably have to be 5-6 hours long and cost at least 100 million USD. There is almost no way it will ever happen commercially, mostly just because it is so throughly violent, it ranks among the most gruesome books I’ve ever read. But I saw The Northman this weekend and it got me thinking about this old dream of mine. My brother and I used to talk about dream casts (Dean Norris as the Judge for me) what scenes we most want to see, who could direct it. It would be AMAZING. It would just cost so much money and I don’t think it would ever be commercially viable. But if I won the lottery I would throw 100,000,000$ million dollars at it and help write the script.
