+35 Crushed dreams, recalibration

Someone won the 600mil Powerball and the jackpot is reset to 20mil (14.2 cash option), and now I have to recalibrate how to spend that if I won, and I have to say, that extra 0 makes all the difference.

Such a tiny looking thing changed my plan from giving family enough to live on for the rest of their lives to either giving them the lump sum of under a million or investing it for them to get a bump in income a year.

My friends' and extended family's portion has dropped from over 2mil to 120,000 (for the kids only).

Our dreams of building our own house is now buying a more modest one (or at least putting a healthy down payment). Same with cars and fun stuff.

It is still enough that I wouldn't have to work any more, but only just barely.

It's still more than I have now and it would be great to win it, but, yeah, that one digit is a doozie.

+15 @Chromattix As long as I win enough to not work anymore I'm good. That's the main reason why I started playing. I just adjust the rest of my dream accordingly depending on what I'm shooting for that week. And in Australia it never, EVER, gets to 600 million or even the figure *after* that once taxes are taken out. I'm used to settling for "smaller" dreams but when they get to $40 million+ I can really start mentally designing my coastal Sydney dream home and thinking about helping my (close) family plus bailing some absolute gem co-workers out of that damn place.
