If I were Filthy Rich
By TheSchwartzIsWithMe+58 Would you collect a win on your own if the jackpot was under $1 million
Say you win something like $750,000. Would you bother setting up anything with a lawyer? Or just collect the money and have an accountant do your taxes?

+48 @SomethingClever2117 I’d only need an accountant and lawyer if it’s over $25m. Under $1m is easy, just throw it in my bank account. From there I’d pay off my mortgage and any debt. Transfer $50k to a HYSA for an emergency fund. Transfer $350k to my investment fund and park it in an S&P 500 index fund. Buy a new car, have some projects done around the house, and go on a nice vacation. Max out my 401k at work and keep working towards an early retirement.
+47 @BlueRFR3100 I would still talk to a lawyer. If for no other reason than to find out if my ex-wife could make a claim to any part of my winnings.
+29 @blonktime I live in California so I need to collect the winnings on my own regardless of how much it is.
+28 @Eagle_Fang135 Probably set up a trust if over $500K. Your name gets published and you get random calls for help/donations. Your contact information is readily available all over the internet. Just Google your name and city and you can find a lot of info. Addresses for your life. People and family members at those addresses. Email addresses. Phone numbers. Even social media account ids. Not even worried about people I know seeing it. It is the people I don’t know that will want to know me.
+11 @Letters_to_Dionysus my state allows anonymity so im always getting it myself
