If I were Filthy Rich
By marvelguy1975+56 What i think the hardest part about winning is....
...keeping and making new friends. Especially when it comes out you won 250 million dollars.
Some friends will try and exploit you. Some people will try and be your new friends, to exploit you.
And finally, if you move into a gated community with 5 million+ dollar homes when the truth comes out those folks wont want to be your friends since you didnt "earn" your wealth.
That last part reminds me of a story of a couple who wont millions. Moved into a wealthy community and had a house warming party, invited their neighbors and no one showed up. They ended up downsizing to a more normal house and not a mulit million dollar mansion.

+25 @Cheap-Bathroom-4426 I have my own experience although it’s not millions, I came into some money, roughly around $20K, only one person cooked up a fake story so he can borrow money from me, I always have in mind that if I lend money out to people that I’m rarely ever going to see it come back. I tell him that I’m not comfortable lending out money to people and that was that, if y’all ever win millions just try to keep it to yourself.
+25 @Hungry-Number6183 I wonder how many people in that wealthy community “made” their millions through inheritance/nepotism.
+18 @Beginning_Lifeguard7 I live in a wealthy community and nobody gives a shit where the money comes from. Now, some of my neighbors are bragging A holes and nobody likes them, but it has nothing to do with how they got their money. Most of my neighbors are nice people. We talk about normal things like our kids and the weather and how the local sporting teams are doing, pretty much anything but money. If a lottery winner moved in next door and wasn’t a jerk they’d just be another anonymous rich person. Boats, cars, RV’s, so what? Everyone has them. There are more than a few people with million dollar motor homes with new $100K toads. Nobody cares.
+15 @RevealActive4557 I am already a fairly solitary person with few friends and little trust in people's motives so if I won that kind of money it would probably exacerbate the situation. I would not move to a multi million dollar community either. I would either buy land somewhere and build my house from scratch or just go to an upper middle class community. I would not flex or brag or by any super luxury cars. Just a nice new middle class car. I would probably splurge on an amazing sound system and home theater and would set up my son, his mom, and my sister for life.
