If I were Filthy Rich

+31 Would it be legal or ethical for your lawyer to lend you money?

For example, someone hit the $1 billion plus jackpot in SC but didn’t come forward for like 8 months or so and it was the attorney who did it. Do I really have to still go to work for that whole time or could I get a loan from my attorney or someone he knows that would at least cover current living expenses until he does all the things to protect my privacy?

+22 @MaloneSeven If not from your lawyer personally, I’m sure he could set you up with several lending institutions to get you some short-term funds. And the interest rate wouldn’t even matter. 50 grand (or whatever) up front, pay back 75 five months later. But as far as the legality or ethics of getting money directly from your lawyer, I don’t know. As lay people I’m sure most of us wouldn’t think twice about a little help. I’d suggest asking a lawyer you may know and reporting your findings back to us all.

+11 @Suitable-Scholar-778 I wouldn't need to borrow money from anyone but myself for about 6 months. If I needed to, I can borrow low 6 figures without too much hassle. That said, if I win PB, I'm absolutely not going back to my job. Thats not even an option. I would resign that very day.
