+29 What do you do if you don’t win the lottery?

So like most people who played the mega millions last night I didn’t win lol but I was very into it like I really felt I was going to win. The whole day I was thinking about what I would do with the money and how I would tell everyone, etc. Earlier this week I spent like maybe a 100 bucks on tix and didn’t win anything and felt pretty stupid, so for Friday I just bought a couple. My question is, how do you not let it overrun your day? I feel like it’s a pretty big letdown when you spend most of the day fantasizing and don’t win but I can’t seem to turn my brain off on days when they are doing the draw, especially when it’s a big amount

+62 @Suitable-Scholar-778 I buy one ticket. Thats a $2 daydream. When I don't win, I smile and move on with my life.

+22 @BlackMetaller Buy ONE ticket, which infinitely increases your chances of winning over having zero tickets. Then spend an hour or two before the draw entertaining yourself by doing something like: * Looking up properties you might buy, the views, the floorplans, imagine what furniture you'd buy and where it would go (personally I like a residence in my city that is on top of a hotel, so I've even spent time perusing the room service menu and the services offered by the day spa) * Planning how you might go about telling your family. Or specifically not telling them, by claiming the windfall came from something else (they may not believe you, but make them sign a NDA and agree not to question your story) * Researching where to buy that item you've always wanted. If it's something like a sportscar go look at photos of the latest model. Then when you (probably) don't win then at least you got some entertainment out of spending the money on the ticket.

+21 @Ruthless4u Buy a candy bar the next time instead of a lottery ticket? When I buy tickets I tend to buy only 1. If it’s meant to happen it will happen with one.   When I work at a gas station I’d see a lot of people spend several hundred on mega millions or power ball. Usually day something like I can’t afford not to win.  Nothing wrong with dreaming about winning, practically everyone does it at some point. Just don’t make purchases assuming you will win or become dependent on winning.

+21 @The_Raven_82 If you actually think you’re going to win to the degree that it affects your day or your outlook, you probably shouldn’t play. I won’t win. Buying a ticket increases my chances infinitely, but statistically, I’m as likely to win as someone who doesn’t play. It’s a rounding error. I buy the ticket and I kinda hope, but ultimately, I just enjoy the daydream. Because I won’t win.
