If I were Filthy Rich

+287 What would you tell people instead of "I won the lottery"?

You win the lottery, and it's a stupid amount of money, but you don't want people to know for obvious reasons.

What would you tell them is your source of income when they notice you're not working a regular job, but are still living relatively well?

You're not spending extravagantly to help keep your secret, but you're still going out and keeping up with your bills. What story would you come up with to explain your work free lifestyle? How much do you think would be enough to explain it, but not enough to attract mooches? Perhaps a side hustle that you could say was doing well.

Would you feel obligated to come up with a story, even for your close friends and family?

+63 @parallelmeme At my age (59M), I could claim I invested well and retired early. All of my siblings retired early and I have had a higher family income than them (I believe).

+44 @BillsInATL I'm old and have worked in Tech Start-ups since the dot com boom of 2000 so most folks wouldnt question much, just assume one of the old companies finally popped. Plus, being middle-aged+, my peers dont care that much to dig so deep.

+41 @OracleofFl OnlyFans! (No, I founded OnlyFans!) /s

+32 @gvillager I'm burned out and just taking some time off. I got enough saved up to hold me over for awhile and I'll worry about working again when the money runs out. I wouldn't even be lying.

+27 @marvelguy1975 I would actually own a business or 2. Probably a motorcycle dealership. Go in a few days a week to meet with the general manager. That's enough. Even if I won 500 million I would not be living that crazy of a life. Sure I would have a nice house and a few cars. And I would take some really nice vacations. But I wouldn't be flaunting it.

+24 @Jets237 I'd leave my job to become a "consultant" and leave it at that. When people in my function cant find a job they try to consult. I'll just appear successful at that.

+18 @new_user_not_the_fbi One way or another, they'll figure it out........if I continued to live where I do now. I'd try to live as close to normal as possible with a few goodies but nothing to give it away

+18 @dangerclosecustoms I say “yolo” and credit card debt is the American way. It explains why i live extravagant lifestyle but at the same time says I’m broke don’t expect money from me.

+18 @Razor_Ramon_WWF An Amazon drone fell out of the sky and caused irreplaceable damage to my genitals. On the way to the hospital a Walmart truck sideswiped the ambulance and I was thrown into traffic

+16 @TwentyFourKG I would sarcastically say that I deal meth

+16 @Doomsday_59 I’ll tell them your delusional & nothing you see me doing is real , your brain is wired to believe I’m doing good in all reality , I’m just like you

+13 @babygirl7106 I bought bitcoins when they were 10 cent a coin and cashed a few in

+13 @Selendrile I would hire a lawyer and give family member a cut including myself. I dont know I got contacted like you. the lawyer is the "go between". if you have money later its because you iinvested wisely

+13 @StandardMode9 I work 100% remotely now. If I won and spending the same amount as before, there's no need to tell anyone anything or make up anything.

+13 @Willhouse4078 I would just tell people it isn't their concern. My bills are paid is all that matters.

+13 @flossdaily My lifestyle would not visible change to a degree that I would have to explain myself. I'd continue to drive a modest car, I'd buy a modest house, I would still shop for clothes at normal places, not the weird ones where jeans cost $5000. I would travel, and spend money on *experiences*, but I wouldn't advertise it.

+12 @Enrgkid I emailed one of those Nigerian prince’s back and he wasn’t lying, there really was someone wanting to transfer me 80million usd

+12 @Realistic_Drip9094 Nothing because I move in silence.

+12 @VoteStrong Investments and got lucky with Bitcoin, Apple, NVIDIA and palantir. Easy to choose what company to mention based on stock prices and when you “invested” if they want more info. Ultimate, you did “invest” the $2, not gambled, and won. Even with that $2 losses in the past, you invested in schools and karma gave you the win. 😂
