If I were Filthy Rich
By yelowin+38 how and when did they find out who edwin castro is?
I imagine hes not the only edwin castro in california, and according to this article when he won he released a statement attempting to throw people off his trail by saying he'll give the money to his grandchildren, what went wrong despite this? how long after accepting the money was he "found"?
EDIT: after further googling it seems that this TMZ article broke the news and revealed who he was, quite scary. I hope anyone else who wins in a state where you have to reveal your name manages to stay anonymous somehow regardless

+29 @EmphasisOutside9728 Read that part of the article again. It's the owner of the place where the ticket was sold who is saying he'll share it with his grandchildren. He got $1m for selling the winner.
+28 @CarbineCo 1. California is a non-anonymous state. 2. He has made zero attempt to hide his identity or be on the run. Yes, there's a lot of information about you online that is readily available to in searchable databases, but in a country as large as the US, I feel if you're take the right steps and move to the right area, you can be pretty difficult to track down. Castro seems to enjoy the limelight, tbh. Antonin Scalia passed away on a super remote ranch in West Texas called Cibolo Creek Ranch to give an example of a remote place to hide. There are tons of places in Alaska to go chill. Foreign countries. Northern Mariana Islands. A bunch of places to go hide. You have to think like a fugitive, it's the same thing but of course in a good way.
+18 @O00OOO00O0 The guy bought an antique Porsche that he drives around. He's also in LA, where he grew up, and while it is big, more people who know him will have access. He's not exactly hiding. That would require moving and restraining yourself from unique purchases for a few years.
+16 @BillsInATL He hasnt tried to hide, like at all. He should have been able to hide in plain sight and blend right in with the thousands of other millionaires in LA, but did his best to stand out and draw attention to himself. Also, I believe there was a legal dispute over the ownership of the ticket that put him in even more of a spotlight. Plus the record jackpot that people and the media were interested in.
+15 @EmphasisOutside9728 Do you think Edwin has any tickets for the $740m Mega drawing on Friday?
+12 @BeautifulAlfalfa2373 The only winner I really care about is the guy who won in Portland; like I legit cared less about winning after he came forward and shared his story about fighting cancer while simultaneously chasing a pipe dream of winning the billion dollar jackpot; which he did. Edwin’s legal battle with who purchased the ticket was interesting for a minute, but after that dried up and honestly haven’t cared much about his story since.
+11 @throwawayfromPA1701 It's super easy to find anyone, their relatives, and where they've lived just from a phone number and birthdate.
