+45 Any interesting stories? One time I got 5/6 numbers on the state lotto

Well one day I had my ticket, I almost completely forgot about it, but I was bored at work "may as well check this ticket I already know it's a loser" just feeling pessimistic that particular day

Well my heart started beating fast, all the numbers matched up at first look, I cross referenced again more carefully, and I was missing one number, so 5/6 matched

I was optimistic still, hey a few thousand off of this 1.2 million dollar jackpot I'll take it!

Well I went to the lottery website to see what exactly I won.....flicking $50 for 5/6 on the state lotto, 1.2 million jackpot for 6/6

Grrrrrrr, now I have the superstition that I should buy my tickets and do my best to totally forget about it, and I check my tickets in a neutral state of mind

I have the superstition to buy my ticket and don't mention it at all and don't do any day dreaming, dont pray, just buy and forget it until the drawing

But now I know it is possible and it doesn't feel completely hopeless

+18 @Covid_45 I recall the time I hit 4/5 plus the mega for California Super Lotto, I was in such disbelief, I stayed up for the 11 o’clock news to make sure I wasn’t tripping 🙃. Won about $1700 after taxes.  I was young and didn’t have a bank account, tried to open one with the check and they wouldn’t allow me w/o two forms of ID.  Ended up going to a check cashing place which took $200 to cash it.  The majority went to a Sony WEGA 32 inch TV.  Been chasing the dragon ever since.
