TO be totally fair, we're undercharged for rent even considering how badly this house need updates. But, just purely to see it done, I would buy the house from the landlord and fix everything that needed fixing, then I would let my in laws stay living here while me and my SO bought our own, much nicer house. This house needs all new windows and doors (I honestly think they're original to the house and this place was built in the 60s), installation of bathroom fans (a window only is NOT good enough), probably new insulation in the walls and attic, popcorn ceilings scraped (but is there ASBESTOS? who knows?), installation of an AC unit, upgraded floors and fixtures in the bathrooms including a new tub for sure, pretty much an entirely new kitchen, and re-sodding of the front and back yards. Not to mention, knocking out the stupid bars above the half wall between the kitchen and living room. Why?? They just collect dust! Also, new water heater and adding a water softener. PLUS I might even finish out the garage, adding an exterior door, and an electric door opener. And then I would LEAVE. Lol
