+13 @AxelsOG Allocate $5,000 to spend on fun stuff (building a sim racing rig, building a new homelab setup, better networking gear, etc..), $10,000 gets used to purchase a used older Corolla, and the rest goes straight into VOO to grow at a steady rate until I need it or I retire. $500,000 is nice, but is hardly life changing for me. A lot of stress goes away, but mostly about the uncertainty of the future for my retirement fund. Most of it will just sit and grow while reinvesting any dividends back into it. I’d MAYBE consider setting aside $10-25k as a possible worry free startup fund to eventually start my own business. And eventually down the line when it grows a bit further, instead of buying a house I’d likely buy a small apartment building with 3-4 units, or a duplex or something while staying in one unit and renting the other(s). I wouldn’t need to worry about constantly increasing profits, so I’d be fine pegging any rent increases to inflation and not a penny more as I’d rather keep good tenants and have a slight profit to set aside for building repairs and maintenance. Basically just a few things to set myself and my future family up for some amount of comfort in the future.
