If I were Filthy Rich

The lottery is designed to be a poverty tax on poor people. Don’t let the fun delusion of winning something with odds of 1 in 300,000,000 ruin your life.

+71 @VineStGuy This is why I only but 1 ticket when they balloon to a crazy amount to win.

+39 @Ruthless4u Please don’t  be the person who shows up to buy tickets, spending several hundred dollars claiming you can’t afford not to win. Seen it happen.

+35 @BTExotic Hey, someone has to win it eventually. At least we can dream and take chances for it.

+31 @IntelligentAd4429 I spend $20 a week. Many people spend more than that on coffee.

+22 @Longjumping_Ad7395 And don’t depend on winning to pay your bills either!

+11 @0x633546a298e734700b Some folk like to spend money on a coffee from a franchised outlet to relax. I buy a ticket and relax for an hour or two day dreaming about the what ifs. I'm well aware of the odds. Your statement about it being a tax on the poor isn't as intelligent as you think it is.

+11 @EmperorUmi Facts. I only play occasionally, but I’ll buy 2 tickets at most each time. I know of someone (a friend of a friend) who bought $200 worth of tickets in a handful of days and then had to ask people for money to cover a utility bill. That’s just ridiculous.

+11 @justbrowsing3519 I consider lottery tickets fun money. I don’t drink, I don’t get my hair/nails done, I meal plan and eat at home. It’s my little splurge that doesn’t affect my ability to pay my bills or contribute to savings or retirement. Of course I could put that $10-20 every few weeks into retirement instead of tickets, but the same could be said for ordering UberEats which I don’t do.
