If I were Filthy Rich

+26 What's your cover story?

They say don't tell anyone you won. I live in a very close neighborhood, and am really close to my family. If I suddenly stop working, they'll notice.

I think my cover story is that I'm doing something similar to what I'm doing now (my boss actually discussed us starting an offshoot business) as a consultant. I say it's going well, and I'm picking up high end clients who make me sign NDAs.

I'm a terrible liar, so I think I'd have to at least have my SO "hire" me to consult, so I could have a grain of truth.

+15 @CityoftheMoon17 I feel like I would tell them I won the lottery but a smaller amount. So wait a few weeks and instead of telling them I had won 200million I would wait to say I claimed a million dollar prize. Enough to explain the new house and a car, something small for family each and then I would say any left over I invested. I feel like that could explain a fair amount, that I make 'good investment choices' without having to lie all the time.

+15 @RNGJesusRoller My Excuse: I Found a long forgotten about thumb drive hat had a bitcoin wallet on it from 2010 with 6,000 btc on it that I only paid $360 for (bitcoin was only six cents a coin back then). No one will treat you like a lottery winner.

+11 @tjman1701 I work in I.T. so no one understands what I do anyway, so I'd just say I do consultancy work for very good money and I can work from anywhere.
